My Pre-Cruise Itinerary
Before embarking on my Mediterranean cruise, I decided to spend three days in Rome to soak up the sights, culture, and of course, the food. It was the perfect way to kick off my trip! Here’s a rundown of my unforgettable 3-day pre-cruise itinerary.
Day 1: Exploring Trastevere and Dinner at Tonnarello
I arrived in Rome and headed straight for Trastevere, one of the city’s most charming neighborhoods. Known for its winding cobblestone streets and vibrant atmosphere, Trastevere feels like a hidden gem in the heart of the bustling city. After some sightseeing, I enjoyed an incredible dinner at Tonnarello. Their signature cacio e pepe was hands-down the best pasta I’ve ever had! The authentic flavors, cozy ambiance, and local vibe made for a perfect first evening in Rome.
Day 2: Day Trip to Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio
For day two, I booked a semi-private tour to Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio, two stunning destinations just outside Rome. Orvieto is a picturesque hilltop town with a breathtaking cathedral, and Civita di Bagnoregio is a true hidden gem. Civita can only be accessed on foot, which adds to its charm. The town feels like stepping back in time, and the views were unbelievable. The tour also included wine tasting and lunch, making it a perfect mix of culture, history, and food.
Day 3: Pasta, Ravioli, and Tiramisu Class
On my final day, I embraced my inner foodie by taking a Master Chef Pasta, Ravioli, and Tiramisu cooking class. I’ve always wanted to learn how to make pasta from scratch, and this class exceeded my expectations. We learned to make ravioli, pasta, and tiramisu, all while getting a behind-the-scenes look at how Italian kitchens work. Each participant had their own workstation, and we all enjoyed our creations together at the end. It was an immersive and hands-on way to experience Italian cuisine.
